“I wanted to look at the effectiveness of our trustee board, so Gillian, our PSGS scheme secretary, provided their trustee self-assessment tool to help me gather thoughts and opinions from others on the board. The tool was extremely easy to use and asked all the right questions to help me collect the information I needed as Trustee Chair. It is a great example of the way PSGS shares knowledge with their clients and makes dealing with key governance issues easy. As well as enabling me to meet one of the Regulator’s 21st century trusteeship requirements, using the tool has flagged trustee training needs and ways we could improve trustee meetings further. ”
“They are very proactive and full of new ideas, they've brought better scheduling and better minute sets.”
“Highly informative. Having leading professionals deliver the TKU course really adds value.”
“When requesting information by email, I have noticed that there is 'out of hours activity' to answer me. I regard this as a stand out 'above and beyond' - impressed.”
“We now have a very collaborative approach between trustees and employer.”
“The trustee training was a very well-paced overview which gave opportunity to explore ideas and question more deeply at key points.”

Following the merger of PS Independent Trustees (PSIT) and HR Trustees (HRTL) in January, the business has today rebranded as Punter Southall Governance Services (PSGS).
Wayne Phelan, PSGS’s Managing Director, commented:
“Our new name reflects two things. First is the true depth of services our business offers - trusteeship and outsourced services (such as scheme secretarial and pensions management) are of equal importance to us and this wasn’t reflected appropriately in either of the PSIT or HRTL names.
Secondly, we are now able to align ourselves much more closely with the Punter Southall Group and our sister business within PSG. This followed the sale of the Punter Southall actuarial, administration and investment consulting businesses to Xafinity plc at the start of the year.”
The HR Trustees name will continue to be used by the specialist Pension Protection Fund (PPF) team within PSGS in their work with the PPF.
